Welcome to The Cap Maison top twenty romantic adventures...this week # 18 WaterFalls.
The simply beautiful island of Saint Lucia is blessed with mountains, valleys, lush rainforests and rivers all combining to create this "Helen of the West Indies". Of course with all of these natural wonders, it is not surprising that the island has many lovely, pretty and not to put too fine a point on it - romantic waterfalls. From all over the world, loving couples find the perfect photo moment at one of the islands waterways and waterfalls.
Here's a quick run down of the best..
Diamond Waterfall in the Diamond Falls Botanical Garden in Soufrière is not only one of the most popular and beautiful of Saint Lucia's waterfalls, but also one of the best. Its water comes from the nearby Sulfur Springs, the world’s only volcano where you can drive right in to see the bubbling pools. In addition, the water contains a variety of minerals and is proven to have therapeutic qualities. There are many nearby pools where you can take a dip in the warm mineral water or you can even take a mud bath. People believe that the sulfur-rich water has healing properties that will revitalize and restore your body and mind.
The most romantic island in the world is blessed with the Pitons. Two magnificent peaks, known as the Magic Mystic Mountains that tower at the entrance to Jalousie Bay. Just a mile or so past the town of Soufriere, a turn to the right towards the old Jalousie Plantation and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will find one of the prettiest waterfalls on the island-The Piton Falls. Falling approximately 30ft the waters are warm and stimulating.
At 55 feet, the "Sault Falls" also known as the "Dennery" Falls is one of the largest on Saint Lucia. Another romantic Waterfall of Saint Lucia, these falls are to be found on the East Coast ( Atlantic side) of the island. If your romantic inclinations extend to adventure, you can follow a romantic interlude at the falls with a ziplining adventure amongst the rainforest treetops nearby.
A couple of miles North East from the Airport at Hewanorra, is the Latille Waterfall. A bit smaller at 20ft but great for a peaceful and refreshing dip to the sounds of the plentiful bird life.
The Toraille Falls are also in the South and at 50ft one of the largest. This is great for a day out or a picnic and there are changing rooms and picnic facilities, so you can spend some time there relaxing and dipping in the cool waters beneath the falls.
Of course while you are staying at the best boutique hotel in Saint Lucia, you should let us organise a Waterfall visit for you.
