St Lucia honeymoons are the stuff of dreams for many newlyweds. Here are a few basic facts you might find interesting in helping you plan.
The island has tropical weather so very light clothing is normal. Keep heat and humidity in mind when selecting a gown or suit if you’re getting married there.Heavy showers, albeit short lasting, are always possible between June and November.
If you like exploring, take some good walking shoes because the island is awash with history and ancient monuments – particularly around Castries and Soufrière. You can also do some excellent hiking around various inland nature trails to explore the rain forest etc. If you are exploring in forest areas, remember that away from the cooling sea breezes it may be hot and humid so don’t be caught out and take appropriate supplies.
Some resorts and hotel complexes specialise in honeymoons and weddings. Getting married in St Lucia is easy and relatively free of bureaucracy, though it might save you a little time if you ask your venue to arrange things in advance.
Car hire is readily available on the island and might make St Lucia honeymoons that bit more memorable due to your increased mobility – but remember that roads may be steep and twisty, with the local driving culture being a little different to that you’re used to! Organised tours and excursions are plentiful though and might save you the stress of needing to drive yourself.
