As Cap Maison remains unaffected by the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, we send our love to our Caribbean island neighbors, including nearby Dominica, and others like Barbuda, Dutch St. Martin, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Cuba who have experienced unimaginable loss during these storms. We wish them the best in their recovery and have banded together with all of Saint Lucia to provide support in any way we can.
For those planning a visit to our island, we wanted to let you know Saint Lucia was largely spared from any major damage. Aside from heavy storms and flooding, Cap Maison has emerged entirely intact and our resort is prepared to host you and your guests immediately.
“We were fortunate to escape the wrath of both Irma and Maria,” said Cap Maison General Manager Ross Stevenson. “Saint Lucia sits on a band just below the normal hurricane activity and there was no damage to Cap Maison and the island in general, and for us, it is business as usual.”
When reflecting on the Caribbean’s resilient spirit, Stevenson said he is reminded of the island expression “koudmen,” which is Patois for lending a helping hand. “We have certainly seen that koudmen spirit in many boats leaving Saint Lucia for Dominica laden with food, medical supplies, water and basic provisions to assist the people of Dominica as they weather the storm.”
